*GASPS* That was his "re-live your school days" sketch! I remember it well. He makes a Vegemite sanger (a sandwich with a yeast extract spread), makes a mess of mixing the butter with the Vegemite and vice-versa and makes a point of not wrapping it in Glad Wrap (cling-film) but paper and stores in a school kid's port (school-bag).NB: The translations in the parentheses are for the Merkins and some Gen Zs.

I like Hill, but Hoges was much better than Hill. With the exception of Hill's Chinaman sketch (where he was actually having a dig at the Brits) Hoges was more than just t*ts-n-ar$e and botty jokes. He was taking the piss but it was in a reverent way, if that makes any sense.
British and Aussie humour does not seem to depend on blunt sarcasm -- like American humour -- to be funny.

Twenty odd years later, and this still cuts the mustard. This guys clever and it shows, very imaginative. You just dont see this sort of thing now, a bloody good laugh and who gives a toss whos offended. A different generation, and all those politicaly correct bores. TV and entertainment in general has just lost its way. Thats why the ratings are shyte. Sorry.
