it's probably because the dvd is only formatted to play in japanese dvd's. :/ I don't know think a ps2 will help either. Your best option is to try to find it online. or something. hope that helps!

Try playing it on your computer. It might prompt you to change your region code but if you don't mind that you won't be able to play DVD's from America then click yes to change it.
If you can't change it on your computer then your best bet will be to by a DVD player that can play the region code.
