The population spike seen on the graph here was caused by the discovery of hydrocarbon energy; Coal, Oil and Natural Gas.
There are, on a global average, ten calories of hydrocarbon energy invested in every calorie of food energy we consume. From commercial fertilisers to transportation to refrigeration we have simply turned hydrocarbon energy into food - that's the population spike, nothing else. It is a once only
gift from nature and it has been one hell of a party, a bit rough at times but we are animals at the end of the day. The energy source is finite and looks like it has reached its peak. When it starts to decline it will do so as steeply as it increased. The population will follow it. Make the most
of it. When you drive, fly, turn on a TV or an electric light or cook your Sunday dinner marvel at the sheer luxury of it all. The Post-Oil Age will be very different. .

To Bernd1964: What goes up must come down? You must be talking about price-gouged gasoline prices then? Somebody noted on some TV game show, that human population only goes up. There's plenty of oil, but some cabal conspiracy to restrict supply. BTW, does anybody have anything to say about what secret purposes they might be funneling all that money towards? Why can the working poor barely afford to drive to work, while greedy oil corporations make obscene excessive profits?

pronatalist - you state that "human population only goes up" . . . oh really? You could be in for quite a shock.
To Wakeymedia2: ... ( 3 months ago by pronatalist)
To Wakeymedia2: That is the cool trend. Human population only goes up. We grow, we get entrenched to the new level and grow all the more. Any minor "dips" in the overall graph, pale in comparison with the huge growth that follows. World population has doubled in size during my lifetime. For each person who dies, 3 more are born to "replace" him or her. God's commandment to people to Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth, that means the process to populate fuller and fuller, naturally.

pronatalist - one question; what has provided the food to feed the 6+ billion humans that are alive today? That answer is right there in the video. Do you have anything that will replace the fuel source that we have turned into food? No-one else does right now. The human population of this planet is about to take a big (and I mean BIG) dive.
To Wakeymedia2: A ... ( 3 months ago by pronatalist)
To Wakeymedia2: A BIG dive? Well I am concerned about that as well. But we are doing it to ourselves. The cause? Rampant contraceptive pushing. So many people don't read near enough. Read the book, "The Birth Dearth; What Happens When People in Free Countries Don't Have Enough Babies." by Ben Wattenberg, or something like that. We have oil in Alaska that enviro-radicals raise cain anytime we want to develop our resources. What? No need for AMERICAN jobs? If food was short, there'd be gardens.
To Wakeymedia2 ( ... ( 3 months ago by pronatalist)
To Wakeymedia2 (continued): Every hear the saying "Necessity is the mother of invention?" That would seem to be what happened in the sci-fi future, as told by such TV/movie stories such as Star Trek. Ever wonder where those nifty "food replicators" came from? Seems human population grew and grew, or kept on creeping upwards, until land was needed more just for living space, crowding out the agricultural use. So why bother to "grow" food? Why not make a machine to "copy" food? So no worries.
To pronatalist: ... ( 3 months ago by Bernd1964)
To pronatalist: human populations can be reduced very peacefully in a natural way. Each one of us just has to stop making more than 2 children in his life. There are several convincing examples of peaceful population reduction in recent decades. In one of his recent broadcasts James Kunstler names Russia after the collapse of the USSR as an example of such a peaceful population reduction. I think we have a responsibility to leave an inhabitable planet for those who who will follow us.
To Bernd1964: But ... ( 3 months ago by pronatalist)
To Bernd1964: But there's no need to "reduce" human populations Just has to stop making more than 2 children? Ha! I might like to have 15 children, but I doubt that God would give me so many. But quite many people may want more than 2 children. It mathmatically takes an average of 3 children, to have both a boy and a girl, even more accounting for Oops! or twins. Not that any children really could be "accidents," but more precisely perhaps "unplanned" but very much wanted Inhabitable=Populous

Humans will have to ... ( 3 days ago by OperationCrossroad)
Humans will have to learn to limit their population or nature will do it for us. If we fail to control the size of our population we will have to live like cockroaches and the earth will end up as a "big steaming ball of sh*t" (to quote George Carlin).
