Paul Potts - Oh Holy Night 2007
O holy night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knee
s! Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine, the night when Christ was born;
O night, O holy night, O night divine!
O night, O holy night, O night divine!
Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
O'er the world a star is sweetly gleaming,
Now come the wisemen from out of the Orient land.
The King of kings lay thus lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our friends.
He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Truly He taught us t
o love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever p
raise we,
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!

This describes the attitude of the purists who attack Paul Potts. I AM SAYING THAT THE PURISTS WHO CRITICISE PAUL ARE WRONG! I'm saying that the standards they use to judge him are wrong and there whole position is fallacious. I'M SAYING THAT CHANGE HAS OCCURED BEFORE AND THERE IS NO REASON WH
Y IT SHOULDN'T OCCUR AGAIN.
Why is it in singing that one must be a voice student or classically trained to say what is good singing. I thought true art communicated to all?

You have no authority to tell any of us what is art, what is good singing, or even what is or isn't classical music. You have an opinion like the rest of us. Your judging everything by the standards of traditional opera is fallacious. There is not a shred of evidence to prove that classical vocal
ism is superior to any other.
As far as I read JT86 was just saying Paul Potts' style was amateurish. And it is. Can nobody else hear how he falls off-tune when he holds his notes? He has very little REAL power in his voice. He is quite good, but there are many of those who are better than Paul Potts. It's not a case of o
ut with the old and in with the new, it's a case of his ability.
é suave e angelical... He's a great man and singer... His voice is beutiful and soft!!!
Looks like he got some dental work done, hehe.
