I know Exactly what you mean. What we call "chemicals" are simply (if Anything in this universe can be called simple)keys that lock & unlock certain avenues in our brains.

Its unfortunate that as soon is somethig is "figured out" or labled, the awe is lost. Why? What we percieve as reality, is itself a vail of illusion. If matter is over 99% empty space, and our own bodies contain more intellegence than the greatest human minds, this says to me that there Must be some More than meets the eye.

This just proves something we already know, that the brain is capable of hallucinations. Is it anymore likely that OBE's, near death xps, abductions etc. are caused by magnetic fields rather than acid or some other hallucigen? I think the latter is less likely. It doesn't prove or disprove anything other than what we already know - the brain can hallucinate. Interesting stuff though :)

Well Sort Of, I never had any lucid dreams or OBES until I took an interest in Em. Cutting to the point - I got out & went to see this girl i knew - just to see if this was real - i knew her suburb but nothing about where she lived, when I got out i was in the right suburb & saw her outside somewhere - not in her house but out with her friends, I looked at her - I think she saw me hmm...she may have been ....aware somehow I was watching. ever since then whenever I see her she looks at me oddly

I am not exactly sure what this proves. 1. How exactly are these very real experiences being made? How can we be sure that they are just 'misfiring brain signals'. We know very little about how our minds generate perception of our everyday world and marking them as these experiences and not everyday experiences as 'misfirings' assumes too much. 2. Are there any testimonies that I can see of ordinary test subjects? In other words, testimony not from the skeptic. He can be biased.

3. Are these experiences truly comparable to those experienced on marijuana, shrooms, lsd, and mescaline? There seems to be a major difference between those produced by magnets and those produced by brain stimulation. One of these differences is how deeply meaningful these experiences can be for the subject. Are magnetic experiences meaningful and life changing as psychedelics are? It doesn't seem to be by watching this video. There is a reason why it's called a 'trip'.

I'm a paranormal investigator, and i've become more skeptical since I had my own experience with high electromagnetic fields. To make a long story short, I was sitting near a poorly shielded wire that was generating very High EMFs. I began to feel paranoid and claustrophobic. It felt like there was a presence in the room. When I moved away from the wire, all of the feelings subsided.

That being said, I do not believe that all paranormal activity exists in the brain. That is why investigators seek external validation through their equipment. Also, just because it is not external, doesn't mean it's not 'real'. Even Robert Monroe, a researcher in OBE, eventually took the stance that "You're not really going anywhere, you are just changing your focus." Look up the concept of 'phasing'. It is based on a similar idea.

You generally remember you are tripping- though you won't necessarily remember what being sane is like while it's happening. During a bad trip its hard to imagine that you will ever be normal again even if you know that you took a 10 hour drug. You kind of go insane even though it's largely under your control.

This is interesting but it is not proof that out of body experiences are created by the brain. We've known that various physical things have an effect on our psyche for a while now, but it's entirely possible that you're simply increasing their awareness, or changing their focus away from the brain.

I'm curious how they explain people returning with outside knowledge. In near death experiences for example people have described doctors, what they were doing, what tools they were using, ect (while they were dead). That's pretty powerful evidence that something outside of body is taking place.

Ive read about those too. BUT these are ALL ANECDOTES and theyve never been verified independently. If this were true then skeptics like James Randi and MShermer would already have shown great interest in them and the 1M usd prize released. INFACT a test with a laptop at the ceiling generating random images was done on ppl experiencing NDEs and the results all turned out -ve.

There is absolutely zero proof that the mind is a product of the brain. Consciousness has never been explained, if we knew how consciousness worked we could artificially recreate it. Can you explain to how particles can gain sentience?
