Not quite. Although the emotions you are picking up on that lead you to believe that do exists. Don McLean has never officially explained the lyrics, but he has said was inspired to write this song by the plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and Jiles Perry Richardson, hence "the day the music died." So it's not that he doesn't like Rock 'n Roll, but likely that he was deeply hurt when he wrote this...
