The wing doesn't keep the car straight, it provides downforce to keep the car on the ground. The steering wheel is what keeps a car staright.

Any car with alot of horsepower needs a spoiler to help keep the rear wheels on the ground to provide maximum traction. When taking a corner the wheels will tend to slide because friction being used to accelerate the car through a turn can't be used to turn the car. Technically a Spoiler can't keep a car straight because it's fixed, but it does allow the tires to keep in contact with the ground. Resulting in better handling and more traction.

'Hate to ruin the fun, but the spoiler has essentially no effect at the speeds this car would ever go (produces negligible downforce). It's for show (as is the spoiler on ANY street car). As for the driver getting too excited; wrong. The suspension was too soft & the car got unsettled towards the end of the run. The "whip" was done AFTER he corrected & was running straight. I don't know any bad drivers who can do the quarter in 6 seconds at over 200, and Ara did it plenty of times.
