So what? Does Nissan GT-R have 1000 hp? Does a Golf GTI DSG handle that kind of power? The second key is made for security purpose to prevent driver going 250 mph without it. It is clear the configuration is intentional. Bugatti could easily configure the Veyron going lower from handling to top speed mode but they choose not to do it. Dude, seriously, stop being so anal.

According to your logic, the best engineered car needs to make nose. You don't like the fact the W16 is quieter than it sounds: do you honestly think W16 should sound like a V8/V10. You don't like the Veyron style because it does not look like a typical supercar. I think the problem you have with the Veyron is it does not fit to your definition of supercar thus nothing do with engineering.

My problem with the Veyron is its trying to be something its not. THinking of it as a hypercar doesn't work because it just isn't (Lamborghini Countache, Ferrari F40, McLaren F1, Lamborghini Miura, Pagani Zonda etc). Its pretentious. I admire the simple fact that it does have great speed and comfort, that is amazing, but overengineering isn't good engineering, a Koenigsegg is (to my mind) a far better engineered car. And I've not even started being 'anal' ;)

So what? The real problem, is, repeat, the Veyron does not fit to your definition of hypercar because of it does not look as aerodynamic as the other listed cars. It is obvious you are into lighter aerodynamics profiled cars hence the reason to use Koenigsegg as an example. The Mercedes McLaren SLR proves you wrong because it is heavier than those listed cars yet handle very well. The overengineered Veyron as you call proved wrong critic thinking road car cannot have 1000 hp and reach 250 mph.

If Koenigsegg had made it I would think the same. That would be the same as Gordon Ramsay making a Pot Noodle and serving that to me, I would still complain. Oh, and I actually quite like the SLR, I think its a damn good car, excepet the interior (materials feel too cheap). The Miura is a hypercar and its aerodynamics are very ineffecient.

And you are STILL misinterpreting my point. I don't like the Veyron because its overengineered. There is a point where overengineering is good (like in an Audi or a bridge) but there is a point where it becomes stupid, like the Veyron. THAT is why I don't like it. There is not set way for a supercar to look, sound or go. So please, leave off before I have a hernia from frustration.

You are comparing one aspect of a car to an entire car, which is illogical. The Veyron may be user friendly, and that makes it something other than which it is trying to be. Therefore it is stupid because its not what its trying to be. It is not a Concord moment, it has NOTHING on the McLaren F1 in terms of innovation and has nothing on the Koenigsegg as far as good engineering goes. It is an impressive piece of packaging, nothing more.

123bhp/litre. 131.25bhp/litre. The second figure is from a Mini Cooper S Works. A CCXR is around 213bhp/litre. The Veyron isn't as fast as it should be. Its a luxury car for show offs. Some petrolheads will own it, but not many. They will buy F1's, Zonda's, MC12's, CCX's and so forth. Ever heard of a bandwagon? The Veyron is meant to be a sports car, and it has impressive performance, but nothing I have ever read said it was fun. Watch Clarksons review of the CCX.

okay so ur point is that its a stupid car because it could go faster than it does? so its not overengineerd its underengineerd... now ur beening kinda confusing here. and by the way the speed of a car does not come from the amount of bhp but from the torqe. u cant messure bhp, u messure the torqe and u convert it, its like voltage and amps, hp is a result of the torqe, in a way. And the point of the car is not to be a sports car but an extreme car pushing engineering as far as possible.
