Nancy Pileosi - You ... ( 1 year ago by Unklebillybob)
Nancy Pileosi - You really need to stop talking. Each and every time you open your mouth, you say the dumbest things. Embryonic Stem Cell Research has not proven, in all these years of study, to be a viable method to help patients with chronic health problems. Please note, ms pileosi, that studies in Adult Stem Cell Research has had success. Try putting money in that area. Also, please quit talking about something of which you know nothing.
Unklebillybob, ... ( 1 year ago by jasonjayhawk)
Unklebillybob, Insulin would not have been invented with the mentality of abandoning research just because the results haven't pleased you. Scientists go into science because they like to solve problems. Just because it's still a problem doesn't mean that politicians (or people like yourself) should remove any hope of the research. Why abandon the research? Admit it--you're sugar coating your religious convictions with pseudoscience! :-)
jason - You missed ... ( 1 year ago by Unklebillybob)
jason - You missed the point. The USA or scientists in the USA are not the only ones working on ESCR. Through-out the world, there have been NO successes. And at what cost for NO Successes? Answer, Please. You pointed out Insulin, OK, I'll go there. First start with Langerhan, then Minkowski, Von Mering, Opie, ending with Macleod & Collip, OK? Now we come to the question...How many human embryos were ever destroyed during this Fifty Three year process? Answer, Please.
jason - I don't ... ( 1 year ago by Unklebillybob)
jason - I don't sugar coat...Try yourself, and take a hard, scientific look at ESCR vs ASCR. You can work your ass off for a couple more decades and the only thing you will be accomplishing, in your lab(s), will be growing/creating tumors.
You asked about the ... ( 1 year ago by jasonjayhawk)
You asked about the "cost" of the lack of success of curing diabetes with stem-cell research. Well-trained scientists rarely use the word "failure". Experiments lead to a new questions which are begging to be solved and explored. Science gains from what a layperson calls a "failure."
The scientific process avoids encountering "no successes" except in cases where it runs out of money.
How many human ... ( 1 year ago by jasonjayhawk)
How many human lives were lives were lost during the fifty three year process of the discovery of insulin... How many lives must continue to live with diseases that can be potentially cured with research that can't be paid for by private funding.
Nobody even knew ... ( 1 year ago by jasonjayhawk)
Nobody even knew the structure of DNA until 1953 (Watson & Crick), 20 years after the discovery of insulin. If a "cure" was discovered 2 years ago with embryonic stem cell research, would you still be angry? What if the discovery will be made two years from now?
Since the development of in vitro fertilization, How many human embryos have been discarded, and not used to help other children that have life-altering diseases? Answer, please.
Instead of ... ( 1 year ago by jasonjayhawk)
Instead of sugarcoating, you're now tarring and feathering the research. When a stem cell line gets old (whether it's adult or embryonic), after 50 cell divisions, the likelyhood of "tumor" growth will occur more frequently with adult stem cells. Fact.
jas - Be careful ... ( 1 year ago by Unklebillybob)
jas - Be careful with this line of thinking. There are of course ethics involved. Ethics, not religious convictions. If you throw-out ethics, then your in the same research camp as Dr joseph mengele. As for science,,,you want to discuss science, I will be more than happy to accomodate you in that field.

jas - This may be ... ( 1 year ago by Unklebillybob)
jas - This may be difficult for you, but,,,If you want to talk about how ESC's react, we can do that. But ESCR hasn't, isn't and won't work the way many researchers want it to. If you want to discuss the next step, we can.

Yes, I did. It's limited to 500 characters, so look through the comments and you'll find the answer.
You didn't answer my question. I'm so glad Missouri voted for the stem cell research. Missourians know what they want!
jas - Take a look ... ( 1 year ago by Unklebillybob)
jas - Take a look at California and how much money the politicians want to put toward ESCR.
Do have one question...Isn't President Bush the first and only president to allow this research? As for the tumor growth, you best do more research. As for stem cell successes, ASC have produced over 70 successful proceedures. How many successful proceedures has ESC produced, through-out the entire world?
I'm glad California ... ( 1 year ago by jasonjayhawk)
I'm glad California is pursuing the ESCR! Yay! Bush is not allowing this research (haven't you been reading the news?) Nice to see non-scientists trying to decide where research money doesn't go. *sarcasm*
jas - Do me a favor ... ( 1 year ago by Unklebillybob)
jas - Do me a favor and go to "Tony Snow on Embryonic Stem Cell Veto"...Here on YouTube.
You too need to go and read the entire Dickey Amendment, post roe v wade. You may have some enlightment as to where all this started.
Thanks for the tip. ... ( 1 year ago by jasonjayhawk)
Thanks for the tip. ESTR wasn't around until Bush was, so of course he gave more money (to the limited 50 cell lines) than Clinton. Snow reveals that it's an ethics/religion issue, not a scientific one.

We put some videos discussing the science behind using stem cells to treat diabetes. You may find them interesting. They are on the Cellmedicine channel.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi Why do people praise a War Criminal? She still funds a criminal enterprise like Iraq yet says discussions of Impeaching the original crime lords is off the table. She can stop funding the war just as EASILY. Call - (202) 225-4965 Ware her down with your VOICE. Tell her you know the TRUTH and aren't buying her bullshit anymore. Call her the War Criminal she is!
PeLousy puts ... ( 10 months ago by WayCurious)
PeLousy puts politics before patients. To keep the issue, she refused to bring the stem cell bill to fund what the leaders in the stem cell & cloning industry call the future of stem cell research. Human embryonic stem cell research will soon be a footnote in history says the man who first man to isolate them and then ended the field by creating human iPS. 85% of T1 & T2 diabetics in remission w/own stem cells, btw, and iPS will help identify how to reach the last 15%
