Great 60's song! Elvis recorded it in the RCA' Studio B in Nashville, Tennessee on June 26, 1961. This track was released as a single paired with "Little sister" on August 1961. It peaked at #4 in Billboard' HOT 100 chart and it stayed for 11 weeks.
"His latest flame" was released on LP in 1963 ("Elvis golden records, vol. 3".

If Elvis hadn't gone to the army and gotten rid of his greedy manager. We would seen a much much better Elvis. He might have even learned to master the guitar better. The constitution of America in the 50s where afraid to let this man spread his wings so they tamed him in army. I'm glad Muhammad Ali refused to join.

Very true. That idiot manager all but killed off the talent that Elvis had by the bushel. Elvis was a bundle of contradictions and he became a victim of the worst ones. Trying to be popular when he already was...he could've done more great stuff like mystery train and that's allright mama, etc.

Yea man, it's ironic The Colonel use to say during interviews that he never exploited Elvis and that Elvis did what Elvis wanted. Then again look where he use to live in Las Vegas "money Den" totally shows he was a stupid lair who loves little green papers over genuine artistry. May his soul never rest in peace ( the colonel that is ).

Thanks SteveA1874, for reaffirming the fact that the Smiths did do a cover of this song! Although I like both versions, it's cool that Morrissey sang it, and I agree that the Smiths had every right to sing it, and I think Elvis would not have minded at all.

You know it's so hard to even talk about what I think some of Elvis greatest songs were because the guy was such a dynamo, but for me, his earlier stuff was some of the greatest, but this was a "little bit later" after the really "early" stuff, but it's all Elvis as far as I'm concerned. He really was a "prolific" singer, to me in the greatest sense of the word. He's hard to beat!!!!!!!!!!! Marc Trainor.
