its a damn chicken though. who cares. its nature for animals to die. they dont think we should kill animals for some reason i cant understand. They have all of these racing horses on steroids, so that is why organizations like PETA are trying to get it regulated so things like this don't happen. You need rules and regulations for everything. These horses should be drug free.

I know they make a big deal of every thing my uncle is fighting against them We want horse slughter because all of the sick old or dying horses have somwhere to got they could treat them more humainley but what would we do wihout it there would be dead horses lying around EVERY WHERE. ok instead of being euthanised would you rather them shoot them on the track. being euthinised is the most humane way to kill a horse that has broken its ankles or legs. if you really cared about the horse you would have it euthanised instead of putting it through the pain of living with a broken leg

No, euthanising is cruel because the horse dies by paralysing the muscles and therefore inabling the breating. Can you imagine something more cruel than dying by suffocation? So even slaughter would be better. But of course this is bloody and this would disturb us so we prefer to let the poor animal suffer unimaginable pain and fear by euthanising it. If I would had a gun I would shoot my horse, knowing it would die immediately instead of letting my horse be killed in such a painful way.

i agree. i think that shooting a horse would be a better thing. less pain for the horse and immediate death but then you would have the PETA dumbasses getting upset about the horse being shot. I think PETA is going too far with animal rights. its gettting ridiculous

No, you are wrong. Euthanasia solution does not paralyze the muscles. It is an overdose of anesthetic and it stops the heart. They are unconscious almost immediately and therefore feel nothing. Research something before you post a retarded comment like that.

I can't believe how misinformed everyone seems to be. Anyone who's ever owned/trained a racehorse knows that they are treated like stars or royalty. Euthanasia actually translates into "good death", which is what these people are giving their horses. It's no different than pulling life-support from a family member. You know that their life is over, and even if they did live, they'd be miserable. I'm all for animal rights, but not when animal rights infringe on human & individual rights to choose

These horses are important to all involved in their lives, they only want what's best for them. For all those who think shooting a horse is better, I have a question: Would you rather your dying mother be euthanized or shot? If you think it's a better death, tell your doctor you'd prefer she's shot because it's quicker. Everyone I know who owns/trains, including our own horses, considers them to be family.

The death of Eight Belles was a freak accident. Both ankles gave and broke. They had no choice but to euthenize her. Think... if you were at Churchill Downs, would YOU want to hear a gunshot, going in to a horses skull? Didnt think so. Yes, they shoot horses in the skull right below the ears. If you shoot a horse it is painful, but euthenezia is NOT SLOW AND PAINFUL, it acts fast, and the horse loses all feeling in its body before it dies. Think about it for a bit guys! !
