I prefer when he does this more up tempo. There used to be version on here with holland and dejonette (sans hancock) that just smoked.....its gone now ----
btw thats a modified GR303 controller for the synclavier synth....Dont think he uses it any more. The GR300/303 is still in use today though....

What I love about Metheny, and some other jazz guitarists, is that his playing is steeped in the sound and feel of the blues. The blues is always in his backpocket.
