Yup you're right. Rickey Smith was the immediate replacement but was kicked out of the group before they could even record the next album without an Eddie-Like tenor. So 20 year-old Damon Harris was chosen around mid-71 because Williams felt he had a solidly eddie sound. Hope this helps.

dennis edwards sucks, he aint got the voice that david ruffin had. temptations in my view sucked after the departure of david ruffin, they werent even worth listening to after eddie left i couldnt even tolerate them. RIP david eddie melvin and paul
