Can you please site a credible reference (print, video, etc) for me in which a reporter or journalist refers to a pre-Ramone band as "punk rock". If it is true I will take the comment back. However, the Ramones' truly deserves to be called "punk" because their aggressive, no-nonsense style flys in the face of bloated music that was popular at the time. And, the Ramones' music is what started the whole british "punk" movement. Even the Clash admit to that. (see "Story of the Ramones" on DVD)

You are so right. A band that never really got off the ground what with Murcia dying in '73 and then Nolan and Thunder quitting the bank in '75. Think of what could have been had the original lineup stayed in place.

How sad and true. All bands that survived have aped others in their early days in some way; some just did to a more savage degree to cover lack of talent; and we all know who the talentless hacks bands are. Many of the various blues bands who tought the Stones early on had known the giant phallus balloons on stage would be part of the act and the wacked music the Stones would end up playing, they never would have tought/trained the Stones to begin with. That's a statement for real talent.
