Click on "More Info" for the walkthrough.
1-Uninstall all GTAIV Game Data..
2-Uninstall all GTAIV Game Save Data..
3- sign out of the PSN before you start the game... try this if your game freezes up in the loading before the game.
4- Make sure there is plenty of space on your hard drive...
As of now Rockstar is working on finding what
causes this issue.. they currently dont know... Hopefully a fix will come eventually. This issue is happening on the 20GB and 60GB PS3 aswell as some X360s.

Freezing in game,
Freezing at install,

Online Multiplayer Temp. Unavalable.

you should try deleting all ur GTAIV data and reinstall it if your not too ar intot he game
And then there's another possible solution to the problem that was posted on several gaming websites saying to sign out of the PSN before starting up the game.
I had the exact same issue.. I called Rockstar.. Number in the manual.. They emailed me a list of things to disable, i.e network, info bar, autosave, flicker control, vibration on the remote, just to name some; on both my system, PS3 and the game.. So far its ok. Call them up tell them this issue and they will send you the steps..
I disconnected from internet, deleted all data liek 3 times, installed patch and system update, and still freezes rite when i take a step!!!!! plz help =[ oh yea since i rented befor buying the game this occured on about 3 differen disks cause i exchange my rental one for another cause i thought it was scratcheed up
