Here are some videos of a tent city / shanty town that has popped up in the suburbs of Southern California. I've never seen anything like this in America since the great depression. At first it seems as though many of the residents had lost their houses due to the mortgage crisis, and I am sure some had, but it seems rather that most here have just fell on hard times due to the economy in Souther California in general. The tent city has been removed by the city and no longer exists to my knowledge. We only went there a few times, as our major work is in Los Angeles with the homeless on Skid Row.

What's happening to America is almost apocolyptic. Central Bankers are headed for Dubai & elsewhere; they'll be back in twenty years or so; when the dust settles. Tyranny is about to be unleashed for using depleted uranium on the Iraqi people & its effect on our own soldiers; our beloved Republic has been bankrupted spiritually & morally. Foreign Countries got away from the dollar in March. They're just printing money causing hyperinflation; it happened to places like Argentina, yes and Germany.

Hey, I may very well lose my job in the next six months. If I am "next" as you put it, I'm going to march down to the local supermarket, nursery, Staples, or whatever, and get a job. I'm not buying the argument that there are no jobs out there. I see "hiring" or "help wanted" signs all the time. I think people get caught up in pride. "Oh, I couldn't do that kind of work". I put myself through college pulling weeds and cleaning pools. If I have to, I'll go back to pulling weeds and cleaning pools

These things sprung up all over the country in the early 1930's- they were called "Hoovervilles" (after President Herbert Hoover). Guess we can call these "Bushvilles". BTW, you can't rent an apartment in Southern California by "working at McDonalds", lol.

People who are homeless aren't there by choice, but by circumstances. I am one of them. My landlords said *GOD* told them to kick me out of the house to give their SON a place to live. Now I am homeless. I didn't choose this. My piece of you-know-what landlords made this decision for me! Just getting a job doesn't immediately solve the problem. That's what people who have never been homeless don't understand! Having a job doesn't mean you can move into an apartment the next day or week!

There is a Tent City here in Fresno, and a few smaller ones around downtown. The city has virtually attempted to outlaw poverty and often destroys homeless communities.

If you've ever had to work just to pay back a loan or debt or to pay for high rent in an area u moved to only because of the job, then u are in slavery. Homelessness is the first step to freedom from enslavement. An unfortunate situation to be in nonetheless. Sorry, but a job at McDonalds will not cover your rent in Southern California. Things are so out of porportion in price here that you'd have to be working two jobs at two fast food chains to afford the rent on dump apartment in a gun shooting neighborhood in Southern California. I know, I did it for over a year till I got the job I'm working today. And I still am forced to live on a day to day basis. It's almost impossible to get ahead here financially unless your already rich.
