This is Gershwin's original arrangement since he did indeed write this for Whiteman. God, that last name has always cracked me up....a "White-man" as the so called King of Jazz...king of jazz my fucking foot!! Satchmo could run rings around this fat schlub yet HE'S the one they call the king of jazz!! Fucking outrageous and absolutely laughable...Warner Bros was so damned right in depicting him as a pig in one of their cartoons...it fits perfectly. Sorry for the rant, but that's always irked me.

The name of the song is "Charleston." That was also the name of a dance which people did to that song, back in the nineteen twenties.

A recording (acoustic) was made by Victor one day later, by Whiteman's Orch. w/Gershwin at the Piano by Victor. It is a 12" recording 5 min. on each side, Blue Bat Wing label for you record collectors.The tempi is correct. the interpretive dancing by sister "G" is absolutely superb. I love this movie!! ck it out all 11 parts on You Tube!!

Glad to see and hear Gershwin's masterpiece as he originally intended. Whereas most classical pieces you hear were performed a century or more after the composer's death.
