IMHO, throughout Hogan's career, Orndorff was his toughest opponent. In 3 meetings in 1986, Hogan was in a dogfight. In this match and the SNME match, Hogan won by default, and in their cage match, Hogan won by escaping out of the cage. However, unlike almost all of his other opponents, he didn't pin Orndorff. And, Orndorff probably would have won this match had he not spent so much time arguing with the ref about stupid things. Anyone agree?

I think the comment was about The Big Event being the first unoffical Summerslam. Although it wasnt named Summerslam it was a summerslam.This night is a very special moment in wrestling history.

Good point. I never realy thought about the fights Orndorffhad with Hogan as a body of work. Paul Orndorff was the greatest challenge to Hulk Hogan not to win the title. Hogan was well on his way to winning against Andre The Giant on the night of the paid off referee at the first Main Event. At The time no one in the WWF could beat Hogan. Hogan could have run another year or two untill he met The Ultimate Warrior. The Warrior was his greatest challenge ever.

This is actually a very good match.
On a scale of 1-5* with 5* being the best, I'd rate this match at 3 1/2* which is really saying something considering Hogan's in the match.

Actually, he only lost to the "warrior" because he was going to be in Hollywood and was taking time off. I think his losing the belt, though, was a huge mistake.

I remember seeing this live in Toronto.This is the match where Orndorff took a bad back drop and landed on his shoulder which caused severe nerve damage to his arm.Thats why one of his arms is half the size of the other one now.Also the idiot Canadian authorities wouldn't allow Jake to bring his snake into the country.Talk about spoiling things.

I believe it's at 1:40 on part 2.You'll see when hogan back drops him that Orndorff lands hard on his right shoulder instead of his back.Apperently this is what caused the nerve damage to his arm according to Orndorff.

My favorite match in the history of wrestling 5 stars ! Paul Orndorff is what all wrestlers should be like. Plain gimmick, plain hairdo and plain attire. Not some wackass voiced, rainbow nail polish wearing high flyer like jeff hardy. He isnt wrestling he cant wrestle. his voice is wack too. Good old paul orndoff. I remember when he did the piledriver on somebody, they didnt get back up. unless it was hogan
