If using HDMI, its through the cable. If using DVI, DVi does not transmit audio. So you need to plug speakers into the selector. There are plugs to insert speakers.

This product does not seem totally sound to me. I have Read tons of user reviews, complaining that this does not work. This issue is most probably down to the capability of the converter, as is may struggle with some high end digital resolutions (wide-screen). Also, all u get is an obvious descriptions of what it does any way, with no evidence of any technical specifications. Can any one help me out, say whos works??? i would like one very much, but I am very skeptical at teh same time.

No. If you're playing XBox or PS3, all you need is console turned on, power adapter connected to Selector and monitor turned on.
