Norman Whitfield is my cousin who did the production for theses guys. In 1969 we lived at 2464 Cortland near Linwood in Detroit. My mom would play this song as loud as she could on the HI-Fi. We were lucky enough to get the promotional copy of this album. This album features Dennis Coffey on the guitar and(bad bass man) Bob Babbitt on bass. Two of the hottest whites guys to slam with the funk brothers. We were able to all the promotional copies of Normans work of to 1971.

Where is Mr. Whitfield now, and is he still in the music business? I lost track of him after Rose Royce did their work with him in the 70's.

From what I know at our past family reunion, He had retired from the music business but ran into some trouble with the IRS. On January 18, 2005, he pleaded guilty for failing to report royalty income he earned from 1995 to 1999 to the IRS. Facing charges of tax evasion on over $2 million worth of income, and was sentenced to six months of house arrest and a $25,000 fine. he was not imprisoned because of health problems such as diabetes. Really makes us sad because this was family.
