It is so ironic that I stumbled upon this video! I was looking for some thoughtful discussion on the philosophical ramifications of abiogenesis and emergence theory in science. Of course what qualifies as "thoughtful" discussions on philosophy, religion and science on youtube is more often then not 99.9% of the time sophmoric bullshit polemics. And this video describes my what I am going through to a T! Thank God for artistic expression and one of the artist that epitomizes that, Peter Gabriel!!

The older I get, the more this video really gets to me. It was around this time that he saw the very painful breakup of a marriage to a woman (Jill) who looked a bit like the woman from the video. I adore Peter Gabriel for being so open, so raw, and so beautiful. This song really does stand up to the test of time.

Well that and his Father. Peter's Father was an alcoholic and would beat Peter. The man in the grave is his Father, but at the same time it's Peter. He's trying to heal from his Father's abuse, and he's digging in the dirt. Even though his Father was buried long ago, Peter still struggled from his Father that was inside of himself. He was becoming his Father and it was effecting his family. This is a very heavy concept, something only Peter could conceive and put into a song.
