Fugue from Prelude and Fugue BWV 548 in e minor. Shows off the bass registers of the instrument well.
Ask yourself who on earth allowed the makers to shove a mirror over the Oberwerk.

Why is it called the 'wedge fugue'?

It's called the wedge due to the shape of the melody. It starts at a single point, just like a wedge going into a log, and then "splits"(to the octave).

This is my favorite Bach work. Ingenious counterpoint, dramatic conception, and gorgeous lyricism combine to create a work of epic proportions as Bach's longest fugue.

Sweeties,
The mirror over the Great keyboard is so that we can check our make-up before we break into excerptr from the repertoire which invariably
make us perspire.
You haven't LIVED----until your eyeliner smears in the middle of Reubke...!

Mogemoets - how stupid a coment can you get . US ORGANISTS normally have mirrors so that we can make contact with the conductors and choirs - A pure practicality

Darling,
That mirror above the keyboard is NOT for checking with a conductor---newsflash for you, baby...!
BTW----being such a grand queen myself----I usually conduct from the console.
When -----and if----in fact I play from a CONSOLE and not a KEYDESK.....which is invariably what one is stuck playing when one plays a tracker organ.....unless the key action is suspended...
Of COURSE we have mirrors t o check with other musicians....!

All i DO in my practice is play Old Bach.
That, and Messiaen, and Vierne.
And of course Durufle.
And a few others.
What's this about "appreciating" Bach?
I wonder if you even know what "Bach" means, in context of the romance languages...?
