Everything I know about the song's meaning came from the liner notes on my "Bridge Over Troubled Water" CD. I don't claim to know everything about the song, but its not too hard to figure out that there is more going on than a song about an architect.

I am doing a portfolio promect on Frank Lloyd wright and im writing an anlysis on this song. I checked many biographies on both Simon and Garfunkle and neither one were going to be a architect.

I think Paul Simon knew very well these intense partnerships were an American thing. That's why he conflates Frank Lloyd Wright and Art Garfunkel. There's another song on the album where he mentions two comic characters... can't remember the names. But that's what it aims at. Doesn't matter where it starts off so much. Always loved the song, anyway. (I'm British). Many years ago a friend described Bookends as "triste" and said how American that was, too. This is very triste.

they had a uniquely sweet, melancholy sound that hasn't dated much. quality never dates, i suppose.

what is the word, YouTubers, (ha, I called you all potatoes), for a building style that uses the local materials for construction... I'm pretty sure Frank Lloyd Wright ONLY made houses this way. I think it starts with a V or something.... help me out here I've been trying to remember this for years.... literally.
