Yeah, a real pity...there are thousands of crap tin boxes(mk1 mondeos, meganes, peugeot 306's for example) out there which deserve this treatment, but as we know, if it's British it's in for a slating at the BBC, even if it's 30 odd years old...why? Because the BBC is run by self loathing wankers.

for christ's sake. please STOP posting a comment just to insult the BBC. from my own research, BL just used the same designs in different marques. the same, crap designs. so, the TG team are actaully justified in saying BL was crap. jaguar is the only ex-BL marque to meet with any success,. rover is now owned by the chinese land rover by the Americans ( ford), why? becsasue BL couldnlt innovate, and neither could the Rover group, it's succcessor

The BBC are a bunch of anti-British shit bags, and I'll say that as often as I please. For all your 'research', Jaguar were only a success under Ford. Rover were good cars in the end, but sold to an asset stripping firm by the Government, then sold cheap to the Chinese. In the seventies, BL were no better, no worse than British built Fords or Vauxhalls, the problem with BL was a lack of cash because they didn't have a rich parent company like Ford or GM. So much for your research.
By the way... ...( 4 months ago by jawajawa350)
By the way...speaking of being innovative, the SD1 and the XJS were both innovative and both designed and built in the seventies by BL when innovative companies like Fiat and Peugeot were turning out mundane rot boxes...so maybe you can explain how they could have innovated further? And can you also explain why you support an anti-British,anti-Royalist,anti-Christian company which robs people of the license fee to produce propoganda, crap drama and rubbish like this?

Perfect example of the bad old days of british motoring.A few good ideas overwhelmed by poor design, lousy build quality and made by companies who thought the consumer would put up with rubbish cars forever. Goodbye british leyland, you will be missed like smallpox.

Perfect example of three 30 odd year old motors which are still going even though they've all had a hard life. My dad had a cortina in the seventies, he bought it in 76 and sold it for 1/4 of the buying price 3 years later. It had done 70,000 miles, burned oil, and had more rust than paint on the body, it also leaked water and third gear was on the way out. These cars have lasted 10x longer, I'd say that's their testimony.

Yes but many of these cars were ruined by the build quaility of the time. As these cars have been on the road for 30 years, probably kept by enthusiasts, many design flaws such as bad rust proofing and badly built engines will have been fixed.
Also if TG wanted to prove a point they could have bought 3 rust buckets, the Princess in particular looked to be in good condition and the interior looked like it was mint condition.

I'd accept this 'car programme' being 'funny' if the BBC would also allow the piss to be taken out of fat, greasy, overpaid Socialist politicians on the 9 oclock news,or taking the piss out of half wit'celebrities'like David Beckham on chat shows for example...Sadly, some things are are meant to be respected thus demonstrating the depth of brainwashing in the UK.20 years ago, if this rubbish was aired on TV(slagging off British industry)Clarkson&co would get their arses kicked+no second series!
For those who think ...( 3 months ago by jawajawa350)
For those who think this rubbish is an accurate account of what British cars were...check Mercedes 450se vs Rover Vitesse...you might learn something about British cars that the TG BBC team didn't want you to know...And if that doesn't convince you of anything...check TT challenge.

We were given the challenge...fill your car up 50 buckets of bullshit, needless to say, I (Jeremy) only had to sit in the Rover to meet the requirment...Hammond and that other bloke got theirs from the BBC news desk...anyway, it was all in a good cause...and that's what's called being fucking anti-British! And on that bombshell...
