Put the power ... ( 4 months ago by flipster12000)
Put the power connections on the bottom of the cell. That way, the output gas never comes into contact with the electrodes. No chance for a spark in case the electrodes get a loose connection at the clean-out cap. Safety is a must. Keep up the great work.

Great looking cell! Can't wait too see it in action. A miter saw with a wood blade(perferibly with a fine tooth blade) will cut that pipe perfectly and fast.

Home depot has a pipe cutting machine, they do it free and gives a perfect straight line cut, or use a 6" ABS pipe cutter wheel.

I knew they cut wood panels for free. Didn't know about the pipe. Thanks for the tip!
There are two SCH40 ... ( 2 months ago by rhblakeman)
There are two SCH40 types, one is solid and one is foam core. Get the heavier and harder solid, not the foam core. Foam core is great for drains, terrible for containment of a hot cell. ABS foam core does work though but it's good to like 180 degrees where PVC is 150 or 130 for foam core. Zero - Lowes sells 24" lengths also. Good way to cut is mark first. Find something that cradles or V's the pipe and has a fixed stop then hold a pencil in place and turn while making a mark. Should be square
A long cable (zip) ... ( 2 months ago by rhblakeman)
A long cable (zip) tie snugged up around the pipe at one mark will almost go perfect for a mark too and you can check the measurment and adjust then use the tie like you did as pencil or marker guide. Take the tie off and cut. You can get unlockable long ties as well and reuse them. When I do PVC for sewer I have a wood V I use and put my 7" saw at the mark and once into the pipe I simply spin. Rare to get an odd cut.
