Lennon was a ...( 4 weeks ago by morval99)
Lennon was a musician, Presley was a performer. I'm not a Presley fan, but I appreciate he captured a style and an image that Lennon himself sought to emulate in his early days as a performer.

sure i agree lennon sought to emulate elvis, but i think he surpassed him, certainly the beatles did. elvis didnt write his own songs, whilst lennon and the beatles did, and a lot of them were classics.

Its a known fact ...( 3 weeks ago by Jromano0005)
Its a known fact that Lennon looked up to a man named Captian Beefheart...he was a musical genius who played in Frank Zappa's band "Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention"...Lennon is great though, he (along with the rest of the Beatles) emulate an entire era of history...prossibly one of the most progressive eras in history (right up there with the enlightenment and the rennessiance) And definetly the most progressive era of music.
The Beatles were ...( 2 weeks ago by FunNotNuts)
The Beatles were fans of Elvis and also of Chuck Berry among others. Lennon did not seek to emulate ANYone.
Speaking as a contemporary of John's, I have to say that his fans of that time, when he left the Beatles, considered him a philosopher as well as a poet and musician.
Oh and just want to say that it wasn't the camera which made the voices appear lower but the sound recording system. John's speaking voice WAS quite low, in any case.
Lennon was ...( 2 weeks ago by FunNotNuts)
Lennon was considered a threat because those his age listened to him and were swayed by his philosophy. In many circles it is thought that the "powers that be" had him done in and made it look like a lone nutter. (the usual way they do things, as with Kennedy)

It's interesting to realize the significance of that shift of thought in John's brain. The moment he realized "his writing" and "writing songs" were the same thing was the same moment the Beatles transitioned from "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" to "Across the Universe" and "I Am the Walrus"

Bless John Lennong for saying that. I never thought of it that way, but i see he's right on this. That's why songs come out sounding dumb when they're just meant to be written as a song. It's much more intersting to write about life then translate it into a song. Then maybe the experience creates the music.

ahh, soz then destructin123. When I saw the video, your comment was the top one. So I assumed (I guess it made an ass out of me) that you meant you didn't understand anything that John Lennon said, when it seemed pretty obvious to me, so I just thought I would post. Have a good one man, soz much
