This clip is from episode 13 House Arrest For Othello and is taken from a complete 25 min UK dub tape.

My sister used to make me sit there and not move and say nothing until this show was over on Saturday mornings. I use to try not to giggle at her singing the theme tune. She can't sing in tune for nuts. I have this song on my ipod but its sung by a modern day artist. I tried to find the original sound track. I wish I could train a horse to do that. To go to mackers or pizza hut at night time for me.

Thanks so much for posting this. I was dreaming about this show some weeks ago and i have been trying to recall the lyrics from the lovely signature tune. Thanks to you the humming and dah de dahs are now replaced with the real words.

I loved this and I've been trying to get a DVD. Those were the days. Think this was my favourite film and I did have some 'white horses' myself although they were never as fantastic as the Lippizanas. White Horses was the best series ever when I was a child. Why aren't there horse films now>

This brings back so many memories! so awesome, I knew all the words off by heart and when I first heard them as an adult I cried! LOL
Wish the dvd was for sale, I heard though that the BBC copy was destrpyed or lost. such a shame.
I loved the old black and white films. Simplicity at its best.

Summers really were longer then. Skies where blue'er and we seemed to laugh alot more. Milk came in bottles and cakes in white paper bags! The six week hols where spent swimming or riding bikes. Everything was better then. Or am I getting to that age where everything's looked at through gold rimmed glasses.....lol

Another 40 something here. Best music for a TV show period. I remember one episode where Julia decides to train Boris to look for truffles and finds an old WW2 landmine instead. Would love to own a set of this series on DVD. Would be happy to trade copies of the Flashing Blade or the Singing Ringing tree. By the way, until recently I'd always assumed that the series was set in the Carmargue region of southern France which is also famous for it's white horses.

Agree totally! I think many of us look back to our childhood as a particularly happy time. Everything seemed new and exciting and every day was an adventure. All things seemed possible. As a child you seemed to appreciate the world around you more and derive more pleasure from it. White Horses, Belle and Sebastian, The Flashing Blade and the like all remind me of a gentler,innocent less worldly time.

Agree totally with petea1uk. These programs remind us of our childhood. A time when everything seemed new and exciting. Where every day was an adventure and anything was possible.When a week was a long time and a year an eternity.We seemed to appreciate the world around us better then and find fun and pleasure in the simplist things. A gentler more innocent less worldly time.

Imagine the fortysomething market for a CD complilation of six weeks holiday theme tunes, with the usual suspects on Flashing Blade, Robinson Crusoe,Double deckers, Forest Rangers, Mr Piper etc. The sleeve could be scratch and sniff and smell of melted tarmac,comic print and jublies

A time when, as children, we were free from the burdens of adulthood (mortgages, jobs, tax etc). Summer holiday mornings would mostly be spent playing/exploring, with occasional TV to fire up our imaginations. Why is it that as kids we want so much to be "grown up" only, when we're adults, to want to be kids again? :)
