I used to work on those Continental AVSI 1790-2A when they used them in the M88 recovery unit. Twin 8" Air Research turbos and straight exhaust. Never stand behind one when it was running. They would load up and backfire shooting a ten foot flame. God I loved those engines.

BTW, the M60 tanks used a lower horsepower diesel version, classed as a AVDS1790 (air cooled 'v'type diesel supercharged. The laster AVSI gassers had fuel injection. Also, Chrysler built the M-48, and yes they did have a hemi combustion chamber.
