LOL, I was 15 yrs old and went to CBGB's and I was trying to have an argument with somebody and this skinny girl was wailing on the stage, so I threw a beer bottle at the stage (she ducked). In 1995 20 yrs later I was sitting in first class and this woman sits next to me and it's PATTI SMITH, I appologized to her and she said, "Don't worry I had alotta stuff thrown at me in those days." This is an original when punk was new and not a redux of the punk scene we see today. I LOVE PATTI SMITH!

Oh my God, this is THE performance! She's a total out of control animal. I loved this song on Horses, but here it is fierce and malicious. She's no-holds-bar out of control squelching, bleeting banshee, does not give a fuck-oh my God her singing is so awful, it's radiates and spews 'I don't give a FUCK!' It's awful and yet cataclysmatic at the same time which is what makes it so memorable and outstanding. I mean she's so conventionally awful and so unselfconscious about it at the same time.
