There are PCs with up to 128gb ram, ATI FireGL video cards with 2gb ram (and multiple of these video cards too), and 4 Quad Core Xeon processors. Also, saying "Core Duo eat my dust", Xeon is a server/workstation processor. For desktop applications it would be hideously overpriced, and there are C2X (Core 2 Extreme) quad core processors that support FSB speeds up to 1600mhz vs the 1333mhz top in Mac Pro. And a 30" monitor can be attached to any computer.

Those extra files make the program able to run in smaller amounts of ram. If it was only one file, it would have to load the WHOLE THING into memory every time you ran it, and not just the parts you need. And if you think those single-file applications in OSX only use that one file, you are deluded. They use shared libraries with all other applications.

And I would consider myself a computer pro. I've held a job in IT and I'm majoring in computer science. I built my computer and fix my friend's computers all the time. And I say that I love vista. Once you strip all the bloat out of it, it's just as smooth as XP, and it lets me use all the memory I bought for my PC (4gb main memory + 512mb vram + various other small amounts of memory)

Here what I say : PCs are great computers for families, workers and people who love playing games. Macs are made to perform in multimedia (editing, animations, music) and Apple got very powerful softwares (Final Cut, Shake). But Macs aren't better or worse than PCs. It only depends of what you do with them. I got both and I take my PC to chat and surf on web and my Mac to edit videos and make music...I only prefer my Mac because of my 23" HD screen:P (sorry for my english I'm not very good:P)
