Also, I wonder how much of that 14 Billion for NASA is actually earmarked for military-related purposes. The actual non-military-related funding for NASA probably amounts to far less.

I agree with Sagan. We should be exploring space/planets because, eventually, man will have to - out of a NEED - begin to leave Earth on a regular basis. How much iron can we pull from Earth, after all, before it implodes? - for example.
