oh good, another Wynton hater. Tell me, how do you breathe with all that jealousy choking you? The man is successful, talented, well-known, good looking, and can play his horn. Folks just don't like it when a black man has all that going for him.

hahaha, i love wynton. i just thought some of that stuff he played was a little to modern to be labeled jazz. im dead serious.... well-known, good looking... yes those are certainly the qualities i value in what i listen to.
both of you totally ... ( 1 year ago by davetrombone1)
both of you totally missed the point of this video. of course its labeled jazz, they both played based on the blues form, and it was call and response, a conversation, tracing its roots to african spirituals which are the fundamentals of jazz music. and fmz contralto, supadik doesnt care if they are black give the race issue a rest

honestly i was just making reference to wyntons own comments about artists such as cecil taylor not being 'jazz'
............... ... ( 1 year ago by SafeInNewYorkCity)
............... this is jazz at its most pure form! this is music that everybody, even a child, can understand! think anything you want, but it is definetly jazz... it's not Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" style jazz, it's New Orleans, Jelly Roll Morton type of jazz... Like Wynton says, it's like a parade, and everybody loves a parade!

Where did he say ... ( 1 year ago by dec10)
Where did he say that? In his book "Letters to A Young Jazz Musician," he says he took his kids to see Cecil at the Vanguard. He says Cecil has "a sprawling, super-elite style," but he doesn't say it isn't jazz.

I doubt whether dec10 will ever read this, I just thought you might want to know that Cecil Taylor was refused a gig at the Lincoln Centre because he wasn't considered to be "jazz."
