Which revolver are we talking about here? I'll stick to the revolver, why break whats not broken? It has been around for much longer than the "High-tech HK", and will be around for long after. Dependability and simplicity are its strengths. And I wont even get into the flat ass power of certain revolvers, which have accounted for some of the most powerful handguns ever designed. Dependability and simplicity are great attributes for sure, but I wasn't originally comparing a trusty-always-ready-to-go ___________ to a overly-engineered-complicated-to-use-finicky ____________; I was talking about Javier's comment on car aristocracy. Many of the cars that aristocrats pride themselves on driving are losing the big lead in performance they once enjoyed over the "lesser-brands". Hence, they call the newer machines, gizmo-dependent, etc.

I see what you're saying, but you've got to understand why it is that those aristocrats bought what they did in the first place. Myself, I love Corvettes, as well as Vipers. Simple, working man's cars, or relatively speaking anyway. But they bought a Ferrari or a Porshe or a Lamborghini, etc not only for the level of performance that it offers (Although as you said, many cars are catching up), but for its panache, as well as a status symbol.

You DO realize that Ferrari and Porsche make use of computers to help control the car right? Lamborghini's have the complex AWD systems derived from Audi's as well. So accusing the GT-R of being mediocre because it makes use of AWD and computers is just ridiculous. And besides, the older Skyline GT-R's(and the ability to murder european cars) and the race wins from the Z cars is enough racing pedigree for me.

I disagree with your point entirely. Whilst Porsche/Ferrari do make use of computer systems, they do not do so anywhere near the degree that the Japs do. EG EVO's are basically computers on wheels -active yaw control etc. Bottom line is that asethetically, Jap cars are way behind European rivals for style & appeal. Jap cars are ALL about computers & gadgets, Euro cars are predominantly about style.

I see, but because of the over abundance of computers the Japanese cars are more practical and easier to push to the limits than their European counterparts. At the end of the day I want something practical, fast and well built. Ferrari's are notorious for being targets of automotive hate crimes and RR Porsche's are notorious for being really difficult to drive fast consistently. Bottom line is out of a GT-R,F430 and a 911 turbo I would choose the GT-R because it's balanced and practical.
