Yeah, Dream Theater are on the 'heavy side', but they are quite talented. Anyway, its great that you tube allows people like us to communicate about things that require more than 'two brain cells' to comprehend. Keep on looking at the 'big picture' and cranking that jazz. We live in a world dominated by talentless stupidity its nice to know that there are others 'out there' thinking about things that are truely interesting.
The US ...( 4 months ago by ManifestMiasma)
The US administration decided to cut funding to critical levels for pure science research, including high energy physics, in the FY2008 budget. This has caused the layoffs of hundreds of physicists, engineers, technicians, and scientific support staff. The Fermilab program is getting scaled back and the PEP-II program is getting hacked. Bush was presented with an emergency funding bill to rectify this but he turned it down. What happens to science depends upon who is in power, not scientists.

I agree about the "different strokes", however I'm unsure about the "subjective" comment. Talent is talent, regardless of the genera. For example, I have friends that are into atonal Jazz (old Holdsworth for example). I don't like it (its too bizzare for me) however I can listen and appreciate it for its depth, and talent you need to play it. We live in a world of 'American Idol' anything with some talent behind it is fine by me. Also, have you ever heard of the radio show 'quirks and quarks'?

Science has always been as a candle in the dark. Pure science, that is, small groups of scientists could discover new things to humankind, no to FBI or US Army.

I remember watching an engineer working on a printing press, so many moving parts all working to produce the end result, the simple print on a page I commented, what a great mind invented the printing press, the German maintenance man replied, not just one mind, many along the way from a simple stamp.

I have the DVD box set as well. It takes me about a month to watch the entire set. Wile it's great to spread the word of that wonderful documentary, you couldn't possibly get as much out of fragmented pieces posted on YouTube, as you could from owning the entire series. They're worth every penny.

Agreed, most of his work is like that, you really need the DVD set. It's odd how some videos on here are an hour long while most are chopped off at 10 minutes. I do understand what you are saying though and clearly it's a set I'll desire to purchase. Thank you for your kind words and have a beautiful day.

My god.. he really was a treasure. I remember watching Cosmos with my father when I was very young.. loved it and I appreciate his message so much more now. Very few people with the insights he had to our true place in the universe.
Thank you Mr. Sagan, wherever you now are in .. your cosmos.
