Now that the CTS sedan has established itself as a bona fide player in the entry-level luxury sedan segment, Cadillac is looking to expand the lineup. We've already seen a prototype of the 2010 CTS Coupe. Now take a look at the 2010 Cadillac CTS wagon.
Caught testing inside GM's Milford proving g
rounds, this CTS wagon prototype reveals several of the major design details of the new five-door. Almost all of the original lines of the CTS sedan have been kept intact, including the small rear windows.
A hastily snapped interior shot reveals relatively small quarter windows behind the C-pillars
and huge D-pillars at each corner. Visibility won't be great, but the overall shape of the rear end looks to be in proportion to the rest of the car. There's a sizable cargo area behind the rear seat, so the CTS wagon will be a legitimate utility vehicle compared to some of the other sport wagons i
n its class.
Expect to see the same engine lineup as the sedan, along with both rear- and all-wheel-drive models. Given that this version of the CTS is most likely aimed at generating European sales, a diesel power plant is probably in the works as well.
Sales of the coupe are scheduled to begin n
ext spring, so the 2009 Cadillac CTS wagon shouldn't be too far behind.
