there is a low violent crime rate where i live. but then again almost every house has a gun in it. there are very few shootings here. Because if you shoot at someone you will be fired upon quickly. Any sane person won't shoot at someone when they know they are gonna be shot at back.

I am an ex-cop and currently a school teacher...I could not agree with you more. I have had these same arguements. It is funny that few people agree with us. Gun laws only stop law abiding people from having guns. The bad guys will always out gun the good guys in this country. BzB :-)

Your correct,In Britain guns are mostly illegal but criminals don't seem to have any trouble getting them. Obviously guns have been widely used for many years in the U.S.A, so the situation is more complicated & deep rooted.

This is the scenario i refer to as the NRA wet dream. They catch an assault in progress and stop the "perp" with their ready to go side arm. . . REALITY CHECK - that happens way less than the 207,000+ that have died from guns between 1999 - 2005 (CDC site is source). More guns dont equal more safety. More guns equal more gun deaths. Its pretty basic math.

Ever notice how massacres happen around disarmed people? I've never heard of a massacre at a gun show. Also I bet nearly every unarmed person that was ever "murdered" by a gun wish they at the very least had a gun to defend themselves with. They should separate criminals killed by cops, drug dealers killed by drug dealers, and self defense shootings from the gun death statistics. That wouldn't leave much. (Under 10k?) Oh and with over 301 million people living here day to day thats great odds.

These schools massacrers always killed them selves after killing others so they wouldn't be afraid of the guns opposing them. If everyone carried a gun I guess the fucked up people would get explosives or some nasty chemicals. In the military (I have served) at the shooting range you could kill a dozen people before anyone even reacts, and again if someone does a thing like that he/she is ready to die. So I just don't think more guns is a good solutions to anything.

Why doesn't somebody ask why did the guy who went onto the campus had a gun! Oh wait - he had it because you are allowed to in the United States of Hypocrisy! If you take guns off the streets and out of the hands of "collectors" there is less chance of there being these massacres happening. In most other continents in the world gun control hods back the mentals but not in the good ole USA where the right to bear arms is perceived to be a right & not a privilege. Makes me mad and sad!
