It's a common belief that Americans just don't get Monty Python. It's a little unfair, but the English are very proud of their humour, and don't like anyone disparaging it. Not to say that only English people find Monty Python funny, that's of course not true.

I am an American who considers Monty Python to be the most brilliant comedy show ever. I've been a fan since 1975 when it was first shown in the U.S. I'm also the author of the book "Best of the Britcoms", which celebrates 50 of the finest British sitcoms to air in America. I interviewed over 20 writers, directors, and actors for it. So I think I can be called a knowledgeable fan.
My original question was why people write down the lines of the clips here after watching them.
