It goes MUCH farther than brain zaps for some of us. It goes beyond knotted muscles, skin rashes, nightmares, restlessness, dizziness, and a total disconnected feeling. Beyond the diarreah and uncontrollable crying spells...restless legs...restless everything. Withdrawal is pure hell.

duly noted traffictype. Thanks. Paxil definitely concerns me but it's the only thing in my life, besides exercise, that has really helped me.

This is by no means "blown out of proportion." If you haven't experienced severe Paxil Discontinuation Syndrome, and you personally do not suffer as much as others, this does not make you an expert on the issue.

It helped me tremendously as well! I know what crushing, disabling anxiety is like. Fingers crossed that you aren't one of the 20-percent who will experience withdrawals :)

Paxil is not addictive.
This is a big issue ...( 1 month ago by traffictype)
This is a big issue I've seen debated a lot. TECHNICALLY, addiction means you crave the drug. This is why the GSK says technically it is not addictive. However, we self-proclaimed addicts crave the ability to think, sleep and function. We are forced to continue taking Paxil in order to do it. That sums up addiction to us!

Paxil is worse than crystal meth..
If Satan made a drug, I'm sure he would like it to be exactly like paxil. Its an absolute horror drug, poisonous, toxic and disgusting side effects and horrific withdrawal .
They say its not "addictive" but of course they are gonna say that, The body does develop a dependency on it, hence the severe withdrawal, its absolutely horrible.

Paxil ruined my life. I've been off it for years and the difference between how I felt before I took the drug and how I felt during and after is profoundly disturbing.
After 8 years of ...( 1 month ago by 1jetball)
After 8 years of using PAXIL I decided to stop because of side effects. I was not ready for the withdrawal symptoms. The only one I did not have was the shocks. I did have nightmares and leg cramps that were very painfull and interupted my sleep for a week. The second and third week I had chills and fevers alternatly at night. During the day I would feel dizzy and confussed, occassionally thinking of suicide. How can a company sell this drug without a stern warning of withdrawl symtoms?
This is interesting ...( 1 month ago by oxyabusekillsdotcom)
This is interesting and gives me some more insight to my wifes issues. She takes Paxil and has taken numerous other 'anti' deppresssants. The docs always change her meds. She is on Anti anxiety med, paxil, has a oxycodone addiction and takes a couple other meds. Basically she has become a completely different person. She is far from the kind hearted gentle person i once new. We're working on getting off the Oxy, buy I guess the paxil is a problem too and needs to go as well. any suggestions?
Take care of all ...( 1 month ago by traffictype)
Take care of all other addictions first, then hit the Paxil with a VERY SLOW TAPER. Then stop at 15mg or 10mg and stay there for a while to stabilize. It will take much longer than you'd think.

I've yet to hear so ...( 1 week ago by SSJkiller)
I've yet to hear so much as a single success story of long-term antidepressant use. I can't believe the pharmaceutical industry continues to poison millions of people with these drugs despite the obvious fact that these people's lives are being ruined. Ultimately, anti-depressants are nothing but a way for Big Pharma to scam people out of their money and their sense of well-being. People need to wake up, realize that they're being cheated and lied to, and boycott these selfish drug companies.

Well, in case you all didn't know this already: The criminals are in charge. Have any of these greedy, pain-and-death- causing liars even come close to getting a prison sentence?
The whole point ...( 2 days ago by traffictype)
The whole point here, is that the doctors didn't tell us there were ANY side effects (other than weight gain) or withdrawal problems with the drug. So there was no way for us to know it was something we could or could not 'handle.'
