It's a matter of fact that jesus himself existed, can't argue with that so you have three possible conclusions
1) He was lying and was a complete charlatan...but then he would've admitted it instead of dying.
2) He was mad...but he clearly wasn't as he preached love and performed healing and miracles
so that leaves the only other possibility
3) He was telling the truth and he really is the Son of God!

the wrold is not 6000 years old, the bible starts messing up reality from the very beginning. You have a problem discerning what a FACT is. It is no better than greek mythology, an explanation for the world in a time when people didn't have the means to find out. Today we have FACTS and knwo much better. Oh, and most of all religion covers your ass in your fear of death, no other real purpose.

When I was a kid, I thought Plato meant his 'myth of the cavern' literally, and derided the idiots who saw anything in it. It took a while for me to understand how mythology can be actually true (or false). I also think that as mythologies go, Genesis is extraordinary and deserves earnest attention.
Where the Gospels are concerned, the message is not woven into mythology but into history, revealing the same truth more completely.

The bible is simply an excellent collection of moral stories, letters, interesting prophecies and poems. People take it far too seriously though.
