I disagree,rikuana.Carlin,as well as a comedian, was also a writer,a thinker and a genius.He didnt joke about popular subjects,or things appealing to the media.He talked and found humor in things that were real,interesting and he really presented true problems by stating his opinions and finding humor in things that pissed him off.He was brutally honest and didnt care what people thought.And in that way,he was much more than a comedian.Thats more than what could ever be said about Dane Cook.

Oh man. The more I see of Carlin, the more pissed off I am that he wasn't big at all in this country the way Hicks was. I only discovered him properly on YouTube a few years ago.

We don't have anything like Leno and Letterman in the UK mate. Whereas Hicks became really popular here. He seemed to love to play in London. His energy was very American but his cynicism and disenchantment was something Brits could relate to.

For some reason many people here have no idea who Bill Hicks was. I ask coworkers and friends and NONE of them have any idea who he was. I even asked my parents figuring that since they were still 'young' when he was popular that they might know, OF COURSE NOT. I loved Hicks and I love Carlin. Two of the greatest comedians of our time and both gone now. I hope they each enjoyed their spin at life.

i've seen George twice and through all the years of listening to him (since I was about 8) he never let me down, always made me laugh and made my day better, and most importantly HE MADE ME THINK, and question the bullshit we're fed day in and day out.
