Since the movie "Bobby" is going to be released, I created this montage on Robert F. Kennedy's Statement in Indianapolis, IN on Martin Luther King's Assassination, which he made on the night of April 4, 1968.
Amid the tragedy of the assassination of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, an extraordinary moment in U.S. political history occurred as Robert F. Kennedy, younger brother of slain President John F. Kennedy, broke the news of King's death to a large gathering of African Americans in Indianapolis, India
na. Most of the people hadn't even heard that Dr. King had been shot. I can imagine that they were stunned and some cried. But that evening Robert Kennedy spoke from his soul. The words rang in almost a prayerful manner. Carved on the Robert Kennedy's marble gravestone are the words from Aeschylus
that he could recite from memory: "He who learns must suffer. And even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God."

Yesterday, for the 40th anniversary of RFK's assassination, Pete Hammil, a friend of RFK's, talked about this speech and the events of this day in Indianpolis. You wrote before that Kennedy "had no time to rehearse a speech". Kennedy DID have a speech prepared. Here is what happened: (continued o

RFK's motorcade, including a contingent of Indianapolis police vehicles, headed for the black section of the city where RFK was set to give a speech. When the motorcade came to the edge of "the ghetto", the cops would not enter and pulled off the road. Along with the police cars was a vehicle containing RFK's prepared speech. So RFK spoke extemporaneously because the cops were too afraid to enter the black section of the city.
According to RFK's friend, Pete Hammil, that is what happened.

With RFK's rational and understanding speech towards king's assasination he was probably the x-factor in indianapolis being riot free unlike the majority of the rest of the country in the aftermath.

And what is your point? Are you condemning white men? Are you hating on everyone? What the hell is your point? If you don't have one then shut the hell up. If you have one then speak it. I am a whit man and I cry when I think of the loss of MLK in '68. But not onlu him...also Robert Kennedy also in '68. What about hime and what he wanted?
