Have you ever practiced Kendo before? Kiai is an essential part of it. You may strike your opponent perfectly but, if your spirit (KI) is half hearted or non existent the Shimpan (referee) will not count it as a valid point. There is a principle in Kendo called KI KEN TAI ICHI or spirit sword body as one. Simply hitting the correct targets is not enough. Many time we use kiai in between attacs to psych ourselves up or to unbalance our opponent spiritually.

I see that your profile says that you are in Germany. I know there are some Kendo clubs there. Check out more videos of the Miyazaki brothers ,Naoki Eiga and Chiba Sensei to name a few. You can also enter All Japan Kendo Federation or AJKF also in Japanese Zen Nihon Kendo Renmei or ZNKR .Good luck

It's very interesting if they are brothers. The two have a very similar fighting style. It seemed to me that it was taking them quite a while to end the match. Neither one was completely winning over the other. Truly impressive.
