I think the strokes are amazing but DO NOT sound like the cribs at all.
American music is getting better, you just need to dig deep, but most of the better sound comes from europe, i will admit. they have a fresher and edgier take on things.

Yeah, zarella, i think that perhaps the difference is that in Europe, 'indie' bands achieve mainstream success more commonly than here in the States. However there are a TON of indie bands in the states and a considerable indie scene; you just have to hunt a bit more.
