whiched sucked and he ended up buying equipment for others to use (including those who speak french) so I think you whinning and complaining should come to an end. He plays hockey and is captain of the hockey team, he is not a professional speaker for the french so lay off.

You can't understand him when he speaks, but I'm sure you can understand him when he puts one in the back of the net.
Hockey should reward people based on merit, not on language. If you want a francophone captain, support local hockey and hope they end up good and drafted by the Habs.

Quebecers don't care about his language: Saku is a model for many, especially after getting back from cancer. This "history" was published by the anti-francophones federalists who are on the board of Quebecor Media (conservatives), a monopoly in the Quebec media environment, and who are trying to propagate a bad image, an image of extremism in regards to quebec people. THEY've dumped that story in the public media, and most if not ALL people found this quite stupid!

2 times Quebecor have tried to play this game. First by lannching this "accommodement raisonnable" related to cultural tensions. Which was in truth like a storm in a glass. But they did not expect it to find more support, the opposite of what they've expected, so they had to come back with a story like this one. Know that like the US people, quebecers are against such a xenophic and monarchical way of considering people and manipulate/screw them around. Royalists are a real pain in the arse.

Just curious, which is your native language? I haven't heard "patate chaude" in French before, nor "storm in a glass" (it's usually "tempest in a teapot") in English.
I do not have evidence before me to evaluate your conspiracy theory properly, but my initial reaction is not to believe it. That said, I do not have any reason to doubt that the dislike of Koivu is a media thing or a vocal minority rather than an accurate representation of the popular sentiment.

Koivu said himself that he speaks French when visiting kids at hospitals because kids are different from the Media, and besides that he only speaks French to his wife during intimate moments.
It's his choice what he wants to speak. He already devoted himself to the city and the team, why can't people just leave the guy alone!
