Turnamabar. What are you trying to say? Charlie Parker was a great sax player. He did not pervert his instrument. He played wild and crazy Jazz. I guess you could say he perverted music, that would make some sense, but that is a different thing all together. New technique is good, there is somebody now and then that may find a new way to pick a guitar or something like that, but don't toss the baby out with the bath water.

There is no correct way to anything musical. It's just art in sound form.

Mark Kings tutorial is better than this. Vic Wooten is an awesome bass player but get things in perspective! Mark can do everything Vic does - at the same time!

hotsax. What makes you think there is no correct way when art is concerned? I am not saying do not create and expand. I am saying there is a right and a wrong. Michelangelo, the greatest artist that has ever lived, bar none, did study a correct way of representing art. So did all the rest of all other great artists. Leonardo da Vinci. Vincent van Gogh. Bach. Beethoven. Mozart. Jimmy Page. All of them made artistic representation within the bounds of sensibility. Not moronic stupidity.
What the heck are ...( 1 day ago by YouSpamTard)
What the heck are you talking about perspective? what perspective? Perspective of physical dexterity? The thing he is playing is a "musical instrument" It ain't a rally race! It is a LOW frequency instrument. Like a piano, the lower tones are used for substance, not intricate melody. How stupid would it be if a piano player played structure with the right hand, melody hand, and played melody with the left hand, bass hand? That is about as stupid as stupid can be.

Ever hear of Lizst? Possibly the greatest pianist that ever lived, and he was well known for using his left hand to play the melody, and the right to play "structure." Type in Emily Bear listen to her own compositions. Double harmony. Fingerstyle guitar does the same thing. You need to learn about music. Vic Wooton is a virtuoso, and you'll get over the fact that he's playing low end melody. Why even watch if you dont like it? Bet you dont like Cliff Burton either, just cause he solos?
diegoshadiwbane, ...( 18 hours ago by YouSpamTard)
diegoshadiwbane, You are missing my point. I guess I did not explain correct. It has to do with sound frequency. Lower tones, like those produced from a bass guitar, make larger sound waves. They are used for lower pitches because that is where to tone of the instrument is suited. All the instruments in an orchestra relate there design in tone to suit that of the register that they play. It makes perfect sense to me, and every body else in this world. Except you and this clown.

Nothing can be ...( 9 hours ago by ilclark)
Nothing can be absolute, and music ins't an exception. I mean that composers or musicians sometimes wrote music not absigning to every instrument their usual pitch (i don't know if you understand my english, i'm sorry)..for example you can listen to the opening phrase of bassoon in the "sacre du printemps", by Stravinskij...

itclark, You are ...( 6 hours ago by YouSpamTard)
itclark, You are correct. People do all sorts of things. even play the high notes on a bass guitar and that is fine. Thing is it should be within the context of music and usually is when musically capable people are doing the composing or the playing of the instrument. This guy is doing it because he thinks the absurdity of what is is doing is clever. This has worked for him, but is more like a circus act, not good solid musical composition. A simple but very clever melody is to hard for him.

In the context of a solo, it is perfectly acceptable for him to play high notes without it being a "circus act." Also keep in mind, this is a cover song, and he must have wanted it to sound at least something like the original, which is why he doesn't play in the lower bass register the whole time and why he doesn't slap the whole time.
