Hi,
I picked up these videos from thalperi's channel. He does not allow comments he does not like. They all have to be approved by him. In other words, you can have all the free speech you want, as long as you do not say anything he finds offensive. So I left a comment on his channel, which in retros
pect seemed hateful and malevolent. I assured him that he will be sorry, it seemed like a threat but all I was referring to was the fact that I will repost those videos with freedom to comment. In retrospect I regret losing my temper that way. Let him know that. In any case, free speech may live he
re as long as YouTube wants. Looks to me like cherry picking for the purpose of propaganda, rather than a documentary. Not to mention a politically correct way to silence criticism. The Israelis do it too. If you criticize the policies of the Israeli government you risk being labeled an anti-semite.
I know at least five Hollywood movies that show Arabs in good light: English Patient Lawrence of Arabia The Mummy Ben-Hur Mohammad, Messenger of God The Wind and the Lion Anyone knows more?

Of course this guy cherry picks facts. I found six movies that counter his argument. That is enough to make any person question the integrity of those who made this documentary. And yes I did admit there was a negative perception. Why should there be not? In Saudi Arabia, they still practice stoning and amputation. In 'liberated' Afghanistan, you can be executed for blasphemy. As for all the deaths, the Middle East is a war zone, so there will be casualties.

U obviously missed Amnesty Intl's report on executions. The US is in the top 5 conutries that kill. So in Saudi Arabia they stone, the US uses physicians. Afghanistan executes far less people. And the US executes based on race.
It is easy to look at other's flaws and not at ours. My point is that the demonization makes it easier to rally everyone into bombing others who are dehumanized. The US has brought more death into the world since the end of WW2 than any other country. Several millions.

I find it interesting how you distort the picture to suit your point. The US executes serial killers for the good of society (regardless of race), in your favorite countries they kill adulterers and blasphemers, in the name of Allah. Even murderers can get off easy if they indulge in 'honor killings'. In the US is transparent about the people they execute. In your favorite countries, they keep it secret. Read the same Amnesty Intl's report on these countries. You will see why they are demonised.

Six, he has named far more and honestly most of these films i have either not seen or it has been so long i cannot remember them but i would suggest that negative images are far greater. I can name six southern whites in the civil war era who were anti-slavery but that doesnt mean the insititution and its ideology didnt exsist and prevail.

The institution of imperialism and control and the subtle racism put out to gain consent. The same thing was done in slavery africans were portrayed as uncivil in africa and by bringing them to america we made them more civil so slavery was justified, or so they said.

There are some imperialistic elements, I agree. But the Arab societies are still struggling with their backwardness, willing choosing it in many cases. That complicates things. Even the Civil War issue is not so clear cut. Even in the South white slave owners where a minority. There where few black slave owners as well. Also Lincoln was no angel. There is a book 'Lincoln Unmasked' with more details.

The reason Arabs are portrayed in the way they are is NOTHING to do with race and EVERYTHING to do with Islam. If "Arabs" are pictured as misogynist, brutal, barbaric, backward and untrustworhty it is because this is the nature of Islam - not Arabs. Jack Shaheen is an Arab, a very intelligent reasonable guy. He is also NOT a Muslim. Go figure.

it is actually the arab culture that is a bit backward, though not as such as hollywood depicts. islam is no different than christianity and the Quran is actually tamer and more civilized than the old testament, if you were to read them. there are intelligent reasonable muslims and arabs.. and some who aren't. just like any groups
