The best anime adaptaption action sequence I have ever seen. The movie itself isn't that great but some of the cinematography is beautiful! Don't let this scene fool you though, there's only maybe like 2 other action scenes that are cool but the rest of the movie is pretty boring.
Also since the music is pretty popular and I keep getting requests, I figure it makes sense to put it here. The song is called Requiem by The Back Horn.

i know alot of people fount it boring, but i loved it. again, it just depends on taste. this is just not the sort of film for those who want to see more or less constant action

I don't know... there seems to be a lot of flash, but little substance. At times it seems like the sequence is nothing more than a quick blur of movement followed by an hour of posing as stuff explodes. The action just isn't as exciting as the explosions and bright lights would have you believe :S

...in defense, watching the ACTUAL dvd is WAY more vibrant then on youtube here...check out the original (it's a little slow, but the story is beautiful)

I dont really like this Live action anime over the top style, however I did enjoy this movie. infact I thought the story was rather unique, and very morbid. My favorite part of Casshern was how they showed the horrors of modern warfare, I believe it was early on. The shot of the soldiers trying to recue a baby from from its mother only to find that the baby was fastened to a grenade pin that the mother was holding. The whole concept of this movie made you think, and for "anime" thats rare.

Again, to anyone not willing to wade thru the previous comments. Casshern is available state-side. It's sold in retail chains, no need to go looking at indie stores. I picked mine up at Walmart last night. They, had 4 more copies left. 19.99 each.

the movie was great, shot very well and the storyline was played out ok, acting could have been a little better and truth be told ,this was the best action scene. tetsuya spends the rest of the movie getting his ass handed to him by the neosapians. soundtrack also cool, Requiem by Back horn
