Dude, I respect people who dedicate there lives to mastering an art. Look, just cause someone does yoga, doesn't mean they can handle them selves in a real combat situation. TKD uses a lot of tec, that has a low percent of success. And don't give me that 2 against 1 stuff. What if one of those guys takes you down. Sure gets rid of your ability to strike. NOT ONE STYLE, can full adapt you for a multipliable attacker situation. That is based upon your own abilities.
Why would anyone ...( 8 months ago by MysticNinjaJay)
Why would anyone stand up? 100% of fights begin standing up. Get off the computer for awhile and stop putting yourself in a box where you think the only effective way to fight is what you see on televised sport.
Why not? Boxing and ...( 8 months ago by MysticNinjaJay)
Why not? Boxing and Kickboxing are not fights? MMA is not a "real fight". It has always had rules. And don't give me this crap about you don't all out diss styles because you already did. My point about Karate against 2 or more opponents is that you have a better chance of success with it than you do Jiu-jitsu. If you go to the ground the other guys can stomp you. Either one is screwed on the ground but who has the better chance standing? Karate. The one who knows BOTH is superior to either.
"The best fighter ...( 8 months ago by MysticNinjaJay)
"The best fighter is not a Boxer, Karate or Judo man. The best fighter is someone who can adapt on any style. He kicks too good for a Boxer, throws too good for a Karate man, and punches too good for a Judo man." - Bruce Lee
-- That is the point I am making. Stop focusing on styles. Learn every useful technique you can. Watch my Complete Martial Artist video. A real Martial Artist focuses on how he can better himself not putting down someone else.

That is interesting. So really, adapting is important. Even being able improvise...? I don't think any one style is better than a thoughtful combination, like Bruce Lee indicated and wrote about. I also agree that BJJ alone won't be helpful when there is more than one opponent.

P.S. in a street fight, if I think life and limb are at stake, I don't play by any rules at all. Pulling air, biting, whatever I have to do to come out of it alive and unbroken is fine by me. Not saying this is what I'd do in a dojo, just in a true to life dangerous situation. And yes, I've been in many street fights. I'm no expert martial artist, I just try to stay: 1. alive, 2. healthy, 3. out of jail, and 4. assuming all else is in my favor - not hurt the opponent.

The thing is combat sports have a high risk of short and long term injury. That's why they created point fighting in the first place. For safety. The best fighters are those that train for the fullest of contact, my sensei who fought Billy Blanks acknowledged this. But a Martial Artist trains for self defense not to compete in a sport.

American Society is pussy because they use guns? Is the American military Pussy? Having a gun and having hand to hand combat skills aren't mutually exclusive qualities. But you have to know what kinda fight you're in. I love martial arts but you don't bring a knife to a gun fight... and if you show up completely disarmed you're an idiot...

You obviously don't watch boxing or any other sport that is of fights. Alot of times a jab will set up a good punch or kick etc....They are looking to score at the same time K.O. so not all wins can be determine by TKO. this is a sport, not a real fight. Watch cage fights and notice how they set things up :D
ok, first of all, ...( 1 month ago by guiltybystander77)
ok, first of all, what the fuck is "a sport that is of fights"??? do you mean a "combat sport"? and second i fucking know about setting shit up with a jab. theres an old saying in boxing "lead with speed, follow with power". it holds true; sure you can snap out a quick little hit, but if you don't follow it up with something a little more damaging it means very little. this is fucking stupid and has nothing to do with a real fight (including a cage fight).

I see what your sayin though, I do muay thai and it still goes to show you can't do it all like a street fight. they just all have rules they have to follow. believe it or not TKD is even worst cause they don't use hands and it's an olympic sport...
