No there levees were not blown during Katrina, but they were blown during Betsy in the 60's, it was blown to save the French Quarter and Uptown, which are the most valuable parts of the city.

RD, I see I received a thumbs down on my comment. I was new at this and trying to respond to Applze3. I didn't know the story about N.O. & the Levee, I am reading about it. I would hope that people could see that no matter what happens in our world, not always will people know the story. You could have chose to guide one to a reliable source of info,book,or otherwise. Perhaps hatred is all you have been shown in life,Sad you chose to reinforce it. :(

How the hell did Bush manage to escape from the blame and ended up with only a few comments by the media here and there?..... the MOFO's government did not attempt to aid the victims till a few days later.... for God's sake we had people from Vancouver, BC go to ground zero before any American aid was there.... I guess if these victims were rich.... hell would've been raised...!

Rich or not when you've just had your life ripped out from under you its a pretty helpless feeling, all you can do is beg for help and hope it comes. Personally, I blame Bush 100% for letting the city stand in chaos, uncertainty, and water for over a week before help came. As far as Iraq goes anyone else in Bush's place would have done the same thing after 9-11, war. After Katrina, Bush should be strung up by his nuts and publicly beaten by the citizens of the gulf coast for not acting sooner.

i live here in Louisiana in a small town called Opelousas and i simply love it....i wouldn't move out of this town for anything....i travel to different places but there is nothing like Louisiana..come down and taste the food and live the cajun life for a little while and you will see what i mean...i will die a happy man down in this small town

The things I miss most about Louisiana are the food & zydeco. Oh yeah, and Mardi Gras. I saw on another thread they were having Mardi Gras somewhere in upstate New York. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery still you can't have a true Mardi Gras outside Louisiana. Many's the time I wish I could go down and get some boudain or some of my Mom's gumbo and red beans & rice. She makes the best but I bet everyone from Louisiana would say the same about their mom's. Love 2 all still there!

Hmm, nice - still, note the change of the lyrics. he's singing "what the river has done/ to this poor people's land". Randy Newman wrote "what he river has done/ to this poor crackers lane". But well, a crackers lane it was way back in 1927.
