The joke is that neither can really express their love for one another. It's kinda lost in translation.

The joke would somehow dissappear in the translation when the joke is that they have to use "slang", english, to express their love to each other. Their Norwegian vocabulary is not wide enough, so they have to use words like "ditto", "I love you", "speil(meaning mirror; explained copying what the first said, not unlike "ditto")".
First the lady tries to tell that she loves the guy, but she doesn't know how to tell it in norwegian, she uses english. Before correcting in norwegian.
